1947 - The Conference of Public Librarians

The Conference of Public Librarians was held at Atlanta University (now Clark-Atlanta University) in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Virginia Lacy Jones was the conference chairperson. The conference was sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation and the Atlanta University Library School. The conference provided a space for Black librarians to explore ways to provide services to the communities they served. Poet Langston Hughes was the keynote speaker at the conference dinner.
