2014 – 2016 Executive Board Member

Kirby McCurtis is a Youth Librarian for Multnomah County Library. Ms. McCurtis has worked as a youth librarian at Multnomah County Library’s Midland branch since January 2012, focusing on youth ages 0-18 and service to the African and African American communities. She was a 2013 Library Journal Mover & Shaker for her efforts in community building.

Prior to coming to Multnomah County Library, Ms. McCurtis worked at San Diego Public Library, where she launched the “Cuddle up & Read” program – storytimes for pregnant and parenting teens. She is active professionally, serving on committees for both Multnomah County Library and ALA. In addition to being on the BCALA Executive Board, Ms. McCurtis is currently the Vice President/President-Elect for the New Members Round Table (NMRT). She earned her M.L.I.S. from UCLA in 2008, and her areas of interest are early literacy, equity and empowerment, and adaptive service models.
