Jina DuVernay

2018 – 2020 Executive Board Member

Jina DuVernay is the Special Collections Librarian at Alabama State University’s Levi Watkins Learning Center and serves on the Steering Committee for ASU’s National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African American Culture. DuVernay also proudly serves on the board of the Black Caucus American Library Association, the Alabama Writer’s Forum and the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission. She is also a member of the Coretta Scott King Book Awards Committee and the Alabama Book Festival Committee. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in English at Troy University of Montgomery, a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Alabama and a Masters in Liberal Arts from Auburn University at Montgomery. DuVernay is passionate about providing quality educational and cultural programs and experiences for all members of the community.
