3-D printing: A world of possibilities – This class will provide hands-on learning experience with 3D printers. Ferguson Tour – On the Ferguson Tour we will learn of its past and its present. Included in the tour will be a visit at the Ferguson Municipal Library, the local park where BCALA has dedicated a tree for Michael Brown, and lunch. Cost $35.00

Dr. Tukufu ZuberiKeynote Speaker — Tukufu Zuberi, Ph.D. – Dr. Tukufu Zuberi is the Lasry Family Professor of Race Relations, and Professor of Sociology and founder of the Center of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the curator of two museum exhibits – Tides of Freedom: African Presence on the Delaware River (at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia) and Black Bodies in Propaganda: The Art of the War Poster (at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology). Dr. Zuberi is the writer and producer for African Independence, an award-winning feature-length documentary film that highlights the birth, realization, and problems confronted by the movement to win independence in Africa. He is also a host on the hit PBS series, History Detectives, which is now airing its 10th season.

Max BrooksAuthor – Max Brooks – Son of comedy filmmaker Mel Brooks and actress Anne Bancroft, Brooks is the author of The Harlem Hellfighters, a graphic novel which portrays a fictionalized account of the entirely African American 369th Infantry Regiment’s experiences in World War I. Sony Pictures has purchased the rights to create a film version of the novel on behalf of Overbrook Entertainment.
Joel Christian GillAuthor – Joel Christian Gill – Joel Christian Gill™ is the chairman/CEO, of Strange Fruit Comics. He is the author/illustrator of 2 books from Fulcrum Publishing Strange Fruit vol. I Uncelebrated Narratives from Black History andTales of the Talented Tenth. He is the Associate Dean of Student Affairs at the New Hampshire Institute of Art and member of The Boston Comics Roundtable. He received his MFA from Boston University and a BA from Roanoke College
Eric Dean SeatonAuthor – Eric Dean Seaton – is a television director, producer, author and owner of “And… Action!” Entertainment. As a two-time NAACP Image Award nominee and episodic director, Eric has directed 18 videos, two pilots and more than 200 television episodes of 38 hit TV series, including NBC/Warner Bros. comedy “Undateable,” TBS’s “Ground Floor,” BET’s “Let’s Stay Together,” Disney’s “Austin & Ally” and Nickelodeon’s “Bella and the Bulldogs.” Legend of the Mantamaji is his first graphic novel series and earned him a 2015 Glyph Comics Rising Star Award nomination. The series has been named a ‘Top Graphic Novel series by Examiner.com and Atlanta Black Star and was added to the MTV’s Summer Reading List for Social Justice Warrior


Troy JohnsonSpeaker – Troy D. Johnson Troy Johnson is the President, founder and webmaster of AALBC.com, LLC (The African American Literature Book Club). Launched in March of 1998, AALBC.com is now the oldest, largest and most frequently visited website dedicated to books by and about people of African descent. As an educator, Johnson teaches web design at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. He also teaches science, social studies, math, and language arts to prepare students to obtain a New York State High School Equivalency Diploma at the Queens Library Adult Learning Center.



Dr. Terry MasonDr. Terry Mason – Dr. Terry Mason is the radio host of Chicago’s “Doctor in the House” and an advocate for integrating diet modification and exercise to treat chronic diseases. He was also featured in the 2001 film Forks over Knives.
Dr. Angela PriesterDr. Angela Priester – Dr. Angela Priester is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience working with clients in a variety of settings including government agencies, private out-patient clinics, military installations and hospitals. Her presentations include psycho-educational style lectures. Dr. Priester was selected to present a “Ted Talk” type presentation on The Psychology of Aging Well at the University of Virginia’s reunion sessions. Audiences have described her presentations as interesting, engaging and informative
