RBMS Preconference Scholarships: Deadline Wednesday, April 9, 2008
The Rare Books and Manuscripts Section (RBMS) of the Association of
College and Research Libraries is offering scholarships to RBMS
members to subsidize first-time preconference attendance at its 49th
annual preconference, "Rare and Special Bytes: Special Collections in
the Digital Age," which will be held in Los Angeles, California from
Tuesday, 24 June to Friday, 27 June 2008. For more information,
please visit the preconference website at
http://www.library.ucla.edu/libraries/special/RBMS/index.htm
A minimum of 12 full and partial scholarships will be awarded. Full
scholarships include a waiver of the preconference registration fee
(up to $235 for professional ACRL members and $95 for full-time
student members) plus a $600 travel and accommodation stipend.
Partial scholarships consist of a waiver of the registration fee plus
a $300 travel and accommodation stipend. Registration scholarships
provide complimentary registration (a $235 value for full ACRL
members; a $95 value for student members).
To help us assure the ongoing improvement of the scholarship program,
winners will be required to submit a post-conference evaluation
letter by July 31, 2008.
RBMS is committed to increasing diversity in the section. Several
preconference scholarships have been designated for applicants of
underrepresented ethnic and racial groups, both for professional
librarians and qualified students. For more information about the
RBMS commitment to diversity, please visit the RBMS website at
