BCALA, Inc. Executive Board approved the following GLIS students as the 2010 E. J. Josey Scholarship Essay Competition winners. Each award is a $2,000 unrestricted scholarship. Applicants had submitted essays:
… that reflect and memorialize the life and accomplishments of E.J. Josey, the founder of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, former President of ALA, library leader, social activist and humanitarian.
Alice Etim , UNC Chapel Hill, “Following the footsteps of Dr. E. J. Josey: LIS Professionals Collaborating to Fix the Digital Divide in Modern Society”
Ashanti White, UNC Greensboro, “E.J. Josey: An American Avant-Gardist”
Four additional awards given in honor of the BCALA, Inc 40 th Anniversary are awarded to:
