Looking for a Job?    Need Help with your Resume?

Job Placement and Resume Help

7th National Conference of African American Librarians (NCAAL) Birmingham, Alabama - August 4 – 8th, 2010

Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 pm & 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Employers

A Job Placement Center will be available during the conference. Employers will have an opportunity to review resumes on the ALA JobLIST. Conference attendees will also have an opportunity to interview potential candidates during the conference.  Employers who want to post job positions, should register and post them on ALA JobLIST.  Rates are listed on the Advertising Rates page.

Employers who want to review resumes of registered job seekers must have an active online ad on JobLIST.    Once your ad is active, you will have access to the resumes.  You can contact job seekers within our system to arrange interviews before and during the conference.

If you are planning to attend the conference, we will have a space for interviewing. Contact Diane Covington, dianec@andrew.cmu.edu, 412-268-7384 or Shaundra Walker walkers01@FVSU.EDU, 478-.825-6764 to set up times.

The communications tool within the JobLIST system is designed to enhance two-way communications. Therefore, employers should login to JobLIST on a regular basis to check for messages, as job seekers can and will contact you regarding your listed positions.

Job Seekers

Job seekers should register and search for jobs on the JobLIST web page.  All services are free to job seekers.
There is no cost to register.  Registration is not required to view job information.  However, it is to the job seeker's advantage to do so.  It will give registered employers access to your resume information.  It will also allow for direct communication between you and the employer.  If you see a position that you are interested in, you can send a message directly to the representative through the JobLIST system.
If you plan to attend the conference, you should indicate this on your information.  After you register on JobLIST, be sure to log in often and check your messages.  Employers who will be attending the conference can and probably will contact you regarding interviews.
If you need help getting your resume polished off, stop by the Placement Center while you are at conference.  We will have professionals there to   provide resume critiquing service to conference attendees.  The service is free.
You will also find numerous resources on various job hunting topics on the Career Resources page of JobLIST.  For additional resources, visit ALA's GetAJob! website.
